A 91-year-old great-grandmother was found stabbed to death inside her in Oklahoma over the weekend, according to police.
Investigators say a relative performing a welfare check came upon the lifeless body of Florence Fife in her home in the 1200 block of East Main Street in Shawnee Saturday evening.
Family members of the victim said Fife appeared to have been stabbed in the neck, and her home had been ransacked.
Detective Jason Crouch, of the Shawnee Police Debarment, told The Shawnee News-Star that the elderly woman's death is being investigated as a homicide, based on evidence of foul play found at the scene.
According to police, family members who looked after Fife arrived at her home late Saturday when they could not reach her by phone.
The back door had been kicked in and the residence appeared to have been plundered, although it is unclear what, if anything, had been taken, reported the station KFOR.
