In the
moments after Philippe Coutinho scored his second goal, Chelsea chairman
Bruce Buck began sending a flurry of texts from his seat in the
director's box.
To
Roman Abramovich? To Guus Hiddink? Soon enough Jose Mourinho will be
getting the message because this club does not take humiliation
particularly well.
Football
royalty was at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with England head coach Roy
Hodgson sitting alongside Buck for an embarrassing 3-1 defeat by
Liverpool.

JOSE'S LEAGUE LOSSES
6
- The number of Premier League defeats for Jose Mourinho this season -
he's never lost more in a Premier League campaign with Chelsea.
Two
seats down from Buck was the club's record goalscorer Frank Lampard and
his dad Frank senior, enjoying the hospitality of the boardroom, if not
the performance or the result.
Things
were different when Lampard, now of New York City in Major League
Soccer, was pulling the strings in the centre of Chelsea's midfield.
They are longing for those days now.
Chelsea, in 15th place in the Barclays Premier League, are in a spot of bother.
Mourinho is
searching for the solution, heading out into the centre circle with his
coaching staff for a 15-minute debrief while some of Chelsea's players
were put through a warm-down.
His
future has been discussed at the highest level, leading to the
statement backing Mourinho following the defeat against Southampton in
early October. It is back on the agenda now.
He
has already been sacked once, following the 1-1 draw with Rosenberg in
the Champions League in 2007, but the feeling is that a second dismissal
would be a clean and final break from the club.
Mourinho could be heading out of the exit door at Chelsea again after he was sacked by the Blues in 2007

CHELSEA WATCHING THROUGH ROSE-TINTED SPECTACLES?
Chelsea's
website had an interesting take on the momentous defeat by Liverpool,
starting by acknowledging Ramires putting them in the lead before noting
that the visitors 'made the best of their attacks later in the game'.
According
to the report, the first half was evenly balanced but when Coutinho
netted his first, 'there was again the feeling that little is going our
way at the present time.
That was added to later on when Liverpool midfielder Lucas escaped a second yellow card.' No doubt Jose feels the same...
If
they are to sack him a second time, then they want to make sure that
there is no wriggle room in terms of his standing and approval with the
fans.
Sack
Mourinho now and it would be hard, say in a year's time under yet
another new manager, for the board to listen to supporters demanding his
return to the club for another spell in charge.
For
that reason, along with the lack of appealing alternatives to replace
him, Mourinho is still clinging to a job at Stamford Bridge.
They
are back in for training on Sunday morning, returning to Cobham to
listen to a manager who is becoming increasingly erratic, even more
irrational, as the defeats column closes in on double digits.
Chelsea's
coaching team had not expected this, not after an assessment of the
players' attitude and demeanour following the Capital One Cup defeat
against Stoke City on Tuesday evening
