Bernie Sanders' wife begged Vermont's governor not to endorse Hillary Clinton, leaked emails have revealed.
Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook sent a message on May 20, 2015 to Clinton herself, vice-chairwoman Huma Abedin chairman John Podesta. That day, Governor Peter Shumlin endorsed Clinton in the presidential race - against Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
In the email, Mook informs Clinton, Podesta and Abedin that Shumlin has decided to endorse Clinton and asks Clinton to call and say thanks because 'this was a bold move for him'.
'Apparently Jane Sanders has now called him twice and begged him to change his mind and he's stood firm. Huma, I will send contact info asap,' the email, obtained by Wikileaks, reads.
But Jane Sanders denied ever begging for Shumlin's endorsement in a tweet Thursday morning.
'1st, I don't beg. Knew Gov Shumlin endorsement of HRC worthless, told him his timing as @BernieSanders announced was pathetic crass politics,' she wrote.
Sanders officially launched his campaign on May 26 last year. He endorsed Clinton in July this year after losing in the primaries.
But Sanders' wife denied ever begging for Shumlin's endorsement in a tweet Thursday morning (pictured) and said the governor's support was worthless.
