Security Task Force Alerts Jos Residents of Imminent Terror Attack
The Security Task Force (STF) in Plateau State has called on residents of Jos to be security conscious and
to tighten security around places where a large number of persons gather, adding that intelligence reports have revealed that terrorists are planning to strike in the city.
The task force also warned bus park operators, managers of relaxation spots, market unions, mosques and churches to be vigilant and put security measures in place around their vicinity to foil the terrorists’ plans.
A statement signed by its media and information officer, Captain Iweha Ikedichi, said the Boko Haram terrorist group was making frantic efforts to disrupt the current peace in Jos metropolis.
Ikedichi said that the planned attack, which has been consistently foiled by security operatives for about two weeks, has prompted increased presence of security personnel around identified flash points.
“The city has also witnessed an increase in check point activities and nipping points established at random at hitherto quiet places. Also, commercial vehicles and tricycle operators are equally enjoined to report any suspicious passenger in their vehicles to the nearest check point.
“The task force reiterates its readiness to promptly respond to any act of breach of security or criminality which is capable of causing possible death and destruction of property,” he said.
“While assuring residents within its area of operational responsibility of their safety at all times, Ikedichi pledged that information provided by residents would be treated with absolute confidentially.
“We would like to reassure members of the general public of our determination to protect lives and properties of all law abiding citizens,” the statement added.
