COVID-19: China reports 1,300 asymptomatic virus cases after public concern

China on Wednesday said it has more than 1,300 asymptomatic coronavirus cases, the first time it has released such data following public concern over people who have tested positive but are not showing symptoms. Health officials also reported the first imported case from abroad in Wuhan — the epicentre where the virus first emerged late last year — heightening fears of infections being brought into China from other countries. Of 36 new cases reported Wednesday, 35 were imported from abroad. The National Health Commission (NHC) said 1,367 asymptomatic patients were under medical observation, with 130 new cases added in the last day. The NHC announced Tuesday that it would respond “to public concerns” by starting to publish daily data on asymptomatic cases, which it said were infectious. Esther who is from Akwa Ibom state in her first month in the school won a silver medal during All Indian Law Student University Games this year, she won a gold medal in signing in February.

Hotelier arrested for enlisting young girls into prostitution

Lagos State Police command has arrested a 33-year-old Victor Obano an hotelier for allegedly compelling young girls to work as prostitutes in his hotel. The suspect, it was learnt travels to places like Calabar, Akwa-Ibom, Edo State and some other states to lure young girls into the ‘dirty’ job It was revealed that Obano modus operandi promises his target a lucrative job. However, on arrival in Lagos, the girls are forced into prostitution. Detectives, who stormed the brothel at Ijegun outskirts of Lagos, arrested some of the prostitutes.

Army confirms return of 39 missing Soldiers

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday confirmed the return of 39 soldiers after they were declared missing last week following an insurgents attack on Boko Haram group in the border town of Gashigar in Borno State. Speaking with Newsmen in Maiduguri, the Theater Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Major Gen. Lucky Irabor who confirmed the return of 39 soldiers, also admitted that a few soldiers were yet to be found after they embarked in the ongoing operation aimed at combating terrorist and helping in the release of the remaining Chibok girls in spite of the released of the 21 girls by the insurgents.

A former elementary school teacher,Maria Caya, who passed out after showing up drunk to a bowling alley field trip for 4th graders, is going to get a $75,000 settlement from the Wisconsin city she sued. Caya filed a $5.5 million lawsuit against the city of Janesville last year claiming police improperly released her blood alcohol tests to the public. Caya claimed the city caused her stress and public embarrassment by releasing her blood alcohol levels.
